Over the past 29+ years, Barbara has served as Underwriting Assistant, Underwriter, Plan Maintenance Team Member, Special Projects Coordinator for VP, Manager then Director of Customer Care Team, and currently is the Director of Compliance at Word & Brown.

Since the Affordable Care Act (ACA) became federal law in March 2010 Barbara's primary responsibility has been to review all regulations and develop helpful resources for brokers so they can serve as valuable ACA compliance consultants to their clients. 

Barbara is a frequent speaker on ACA Compliance for Sacramento Association of Health Underwriters (SAHU) and Clark County Association of Health Underwriters (CCAHU) in Nevada, and an ACA webinar CE speaker for the Los Angeles Association of Health Underwriters (LAAHU).  Barbara is a member of the Orange County Association of Health Underwriters (OCAHU) Women in Business Committee for the past 3-years, and was honored to be the recipient of the OCAHU Business Woman of the Year Award in 2013.
